Article: Turning the tide on single-use plastic
AQUAREX's Jesper Weller had the pleasure of talking to the Supply Chain and Sustainability magazine (IMPA's official publication) - in their recent feature on 'Turning the tide on single-use plastic'.
The IMPA SAVE initiative has gained solid traction, with leading fleets successfully reducing single-use plastics and proving the benefits of onboard filtration systems. While challenges remain - such as crew trust and industry-wide adoption - innovative approaches in education, communication, and leadership could pave the way for industry-wide change.
"The results are hard to argue with too, as Founding Partner of AQUAREX, Jesper Weller explains. “I think numbers matter and an interesting fact is that with our fleet of water purifier units in operation, we are preventing somewhere between 10 million and 15 million single-use plastic drinking water bottles onboard per year, from being produced. This is not the recycling of plastic; it is a complete elimination of the plastic production in the first place.”
